romours abound that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is likely to remake actor-director-choreographer Lawrence's runaway Tamil-Telugu hit Kanchana in Hindi, Kanchana's lead lady Lakshmi Rai hinted that she might be part of Hindi version as well. The actress, currently in London, was talking to a leading newspaper.
Asked whether she would be doing the Hindi version of Kanchana, Lakshmi Rai said: "If all goes well, who knows? I don't want to say anything right now, but I heard that Salman Khan loved the film and he is keen to cast me."
The actress also said that Kanchana was a special film for her and a lot of people connected with it. "It is the simplicity and humour that worked in favour and it's a 'double dhamaka' for me. I frankly feel that I deserved a solo hit in Tamil, after being here for such a long time. I saw the film in Telugu before I took off to London and was surprised to see the audience reaction in theatres. From the beginning, we knew that it would work with B and C stations, but multiplex audience lapping it up was a surprise."
Lakshmi Rai is currently busy with a number of films, including Mankatha, three Malayalam films that include a Priyadarshan film and a Balakrishna film in Telugu.
