He handed over the jersey to team's vice-captain Indrajith as the skipper, Mohanlal couldn't make it for the event. Mammootty is the mentor of Kerala Strikers and a non-playing member.
Brand ambassadors Lakshmi Rai and Bhavana not only spoke about the team and their association with it but also raised the glam quotient as they walked the ramp in the team's bright, green coloured jerseys at the star-studded affair. The event was attended by Mollywood actors like Unni Mukundan, Vinu Mohan, Rajive Pillai, Bala, Prithviraj, Kunjacko Bobban, Nivin Pauly, Munna, Prejoth Kalabhavan, Asif Ali, Nikhil, Bineesh Kodiyery, Prejoth Kalabhavan and others stars. Kerala Strikers is co-owned by director Priyadarshan's wife Lissy Priyadarshan and MLS Strikers and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. a company promoted by Mohanlal and Chennai-based businessman Shaji. News Reported from TimesofIndia Lakshmi says that if all goes well, she might be in Hindi version of Kanchana.
She also adds that I frankly feel that I deserved a solo hit in Tamil, after being here for such a long time. Of course we do feel the same. Well deserved come back Lakshmi News source: Galatta romours abound that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is likely to remake actor-director-choreographer Lawrence's runaway Tamil-Telugu hit Kanchana in Hindi, Kanchana's lead lady Lakshmi Rai hinted that she might be part of Hindi version as well. The actress, currently in London, was talking to a leading newspaper. Asked whether she would be doing the Hindi version of Kanchana, Lakshmi Rai said: "If all goes well, who knows? I don't want to say anything right now, but I heard that Salman Khan loved the film and he is keen to cast me." The actress also said that Kanchana was a special film for her and a lot of people connected with it. "It is the simplicity and humour that worked in favour and it's a 'double dhamaka' for me. I frankly feel that I deserved a solo hit in Tamil, after being here for such a long time. I saw the film in Telugu before I took off to London and was surprised to see the audience reaction in theatres. From the beginning, we knew that it would work with B and C stations, but multiplex audience lapping it up was a surprise." Lakshmi Rai is currently busy with a number of films, including Mankatha, three Malayalam films that include a Priyadarshan film and a Balakrishna film in Telugu. You wouldn’t have spotted Lakshmi Rai in most of the publicity stills of Mankatha.
But when you watch the film her character comes as a pleasant surprise. Whether it’s her introduction song Vilaiyadu Mankatha or her appearance in the climax, she’s ravishing and the most glamorous person on screen. In fact Lakshmi’s being called the latest hottie in Tamil films. Asked about her refreshingly different look in Kanchana and Mankatha, she says, “I am avoiding make-up these days. With make-up I look totally different on screen. So I am applying less make-up and that makes me look good. I have lost weight too, which accounts for the glam touch. I’m overwhelmed with the feedback I’ve received from those who’ve seen Mankatha. I will continue with the same ‘look’ and grooming in my upcoming films as well.” Asked about her negative role in the film, she says, “It was a daring move in a multistarrer but it has worked out well!” Not sure if Trisha really said it or if it is a rumor. If she did then it is atrocious
Source - Hosuronline Though HosurOnline used to mention about Lakshmi Rai and her album with a Kollywood Maaamaaa... Trisha has now officially confirmed the same! Recently, Lakshmi Rai starrer Kanchana is a super hit and now Mankatha is also doing well, though Lakshmi Rai is not given much importance in this movie. Using the opportunity, Lakshmi Rai, told reporters that Venkat Prabhu, the director of Mankatha preferred her as the first choice than Trisha, in the movie, which created a big spark now between the babes. Trisha has openly told now that "Lakshmi Rai is an Album Girl (Call Girl) and hence she is speaking all such non sense" HosurOnline is now contacting Lakshmi Rai to get feed back from her on Trisha's comments! Hosur Paiyan: KoothadikaL rendu patta oorukku kondaattam!!! Back It's Double Dhamaka for me: Lakshmi Rai - news Sify
Lakshmi Rai is jumping through the hoops with happiness. Her phone has not stopped ringing with all top stars calling her up to congratulate, as her new release Kanchana has hits the bull’s eye. And the double whammy is that it is a hit in both Telugu and Tamil. Lakshmi is the numero uno actress in Malayalam but she does not believe to tom-tom her achievements from roof-tops. Slow and steady wins the race - seems to be her mantra. Speaking exclusively to Sridevi Sreedhar from London where she is on a holiday, Lakshmi opens up So you are over the moon, after the success of Kanchana? (Smiles) Hmmmm... I'm very happy. Kanchana was a special film for me and a lot of people connected with it. It is the simplicity and humour that worked in favour and it's Double Dhamaka for me. I frankly feel that I deserved a solo hit in Tamil, after being here for such a long time. I saw the film in Telugu before I took off to London and was surprised to see the audience reaction in theatres. From the beginning we knew that it would work with B and C stations, but multiplex audiences lapping it up was a surprise. Even before the release, you were rather confident that Kanchana would do well Sometimes it's your gut feeling. And so far, I've not gone wrong with my previous films. Midway through the film you can tell where it's headed. I was confident of this one. A lot of my friends advised me not to sign this film, as it will affect my market. But I was confident about the script. But Anushka was supposed to be the heroine in Kanchana? Yes, that's true. Lawrence was writing the script during the filming of Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam and he narrated the one-line story to me. He also told me that Anushka is doing the heroine role but after an year, he called me one day and asked me if my dates are free. Luckily, I had dates to spare and as I knew the script, I immediately agreed. Rest is history. How was it working with Lawrence? Lawrence Master is one of the most hard working, good human being that I have met in the industry. It is his conviction and confidence that has paid off. But they say you are having an affair with him You must be joking (Laughs). He is a good friend, matured, God-fearing and sensible. My chemistry with him on-screen is terrific and that maybe the reason why people talk like that. Will you be doing the Hindi version of Kanchana? If all goes well, who knows? I don't want to say anything right now, but I heard that Salman Khan loved the film and he is keen to cast me. Your future projects? In Mankatha, I have a fantastic role, a sort of dare devil character. In Malayalam, I am doing three big projects including Priyadarshan's fim. In Telugu, I have completed a film with Balakrishna. What kind of cinema are you now looking for? Anything that catches my fancy; whether it is comedy, a ultra glamorous role, an action flick or realistic cinema. It could be anything. I am pretty enjoying dabbling in different genres. I am always positive and I love the way my career is going. I hope it sustains. News source - Sify
Lakshmi Rai is all smiles. Her career graph has never looked better and Lakshmi isn’t taking it easy either. With Kanchana and now Mankatha, she embarks on a new innings and this time, it’s special as she was pitted against three actresses- Trisha, Anjali and Andrea. The actress who was shooting with Mohanlal in a Malayalam film directed by Priyadarshan in Hyderabad says that she was keeping her fingers crossed on the day Mankatha released. But after the first show, her phone was flooded with congratulatory messages from friends and well-wishers in the industry. Says an elated Lakshmi: “I was not seen in the posters, publicity material or even television promos, but every reviewer in town has praised my character and performance over others. Even before the release, when I was asked if I was playing second fiddle, I had said that you have to wait and watch when the film releases and now I am pleased that my decision was right and I'm on cloud nine”. [Lakshmi Rai fan-site offers her explanation on this controversy in our rumors section] Lakshmi was seen in Ajith’s introduction song Vilaiyadu Mankatha and the major twist in the climax. Lakshmi Rai rubbishes her media claims on Trisha. Says she is mis-quoted. Check the following links for Lakshmi Rai's clarification I respect all my co-stars: Lakshmi Rai I have no issues with Trisha: Lakshmi Rai News from Desiboost
As a diehard fansite of Lakshmi Rai, we would like to object to the highlighted text below. First of all she was not a struggling actress prior to the recent double success. She is the queen of Malayalam cinema. Secondly the article talks as if Dhaam Dhoom is the only significant movie in Lakshmi's career. Even if the website is talking only about Tamil films, we beg to differ. Of-course no one is denying that Dhaam Dhoom is an important movie in her film career. Lakshmi herself acknowledged that. However in male dominated film industry her contributions at Vellithirai, Irumbu kottai Murattu Singam, Vamanan are unique and highly appreciated. These movies are milestones in her career and proved that she will be able to handle diversified roles. Now with this note, let's get to the news :) From nowhere, actress Lakshmi has managed to strike a deadly double blow. No, we aren’t talking about any assault she made; it’s only that she has just had two back-to-back hits in ‘Kanchana’ and ‘Mankatha’. Till a few months back, Lakshmi Rai was struggling with no significant hit to her credit except for a significant role in the hit film ‘Dhaam Dhoom’ which had ‘Jayam’ Ravi and Bollywood’s Kangna Ranaut in lead roles. Things changed dramatically when Anushka opted out of Lawrence’s ‘Kanchana’ and Lakshmi Rai was drafted in as the heroine. The film, which recently crossed 50 days, has become a phenomenal hit all over Tamil Nadu and the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. Without an iota of doubt, the film’s success has surely upped Lakshmi Rai’s stakes in Kollywood and Tollywood. As if that wasn’t enough, Lakshmi Rai has also played a small but significant role in Ajith’s latest landmark film ‘Mankatha’, which has also been declared hit by the trade pundits. The press was lavish in its praise that the film showed Lakshmi Rai like never before as her ‘true beauty’ was visible in the film. For some reasons, though, Lakshmi has decided to have some ‘hiatus’ from starring in Tamil films. The actress surprised many by her portrayal of the ‘vamp’ in Mankatha and just when producers and directors are queueing outside her house to sign her up for their films, news about her reported ‘hiatus’ from Kollywood comes. The reason given by the actress is that she has a handful of Kannada, Malayalm and Telugu films and can come back to Tamil films only after completing all her pending assignments. She feels that this ‘break’ would make her fans yearn for her presence in films. If it happens that way, it’d be alright; but what would Lakshmi do if the notion that ‘out of sight, out of mind’ becomes true? I'll be sensuous and sexy - Lakshmi rai in another one of her interview from her early part of career.
Source - Galatta She is just one film old. But her performance as the glamour girl in Karkka Kasadara has got her lot of attention. Lakshmi Rai speaks about her career in a brief interview. How did you enter films? When I was eight years old I started appearing in ad films shot in Belgaum. From 2002 to 2004 I was the Miss Belgaum. Udhayakumar sir was looking out for a fresh face for his film Karkka Kasadara. My portfolio reached him through one of the model coordinators. He asked me to come to Chennai. After a formal screen test I got selected. Your experiences with Udhayakumar. First of all, I was thrilled to work with a director who discovered great actresses like Soundarya. The entire crew and cast are all new. Yet the film does not show it at all. The credit goes to the director. I am grateful to him for having the confidence that I will be able to act. Vikranth (cousin of Vijay) was of great help. He used to tell me the meanings of the dialogues. We hear that you are doing a Telugu film? Yeah, I am doing a film titled Kanchanamala Cable TV with Srikanth. When I got this offer, I was quite apprehensive since everyone told me that Andhra filmdom is full of heroes with big egos. Srikanth, my hero in is such a down-to-earth person and has no airs about him. I hope my Telugu film too becomes a hit. Tell us about your family background. Ours is very close knit family. We are three sisters. I am the youngest and hence the most pampered girl. Whenever we are at home we have our share of fights and fun. I am Lush to my sisters while my mother calls me Lucky. My father had expected the last kid to be a boy and so he calls me Krishna Do you feel that young girls are safe in filmdom? I feel that young girls can make it films. Some may be lucky to get the right break. First and foremost, the parents must be supportive of the daughter’s entry into films. They must be the backbone to their daughter’s career. Next is the right kind of person who should give you the right break. If all this happens then filmdom is a nice place. Do you think glamour is your strong point? Exactly! Today’s youth who come to films want to see glamourous heroines. I want to catch their attention and win their hearts. I will be sensuous and sexy but not vulgar on screen. Once you have come to films then you should not draw any barriers. Are you related to Aishwarya Rai? (Laughs) Somebody has circulated this rumour. Both of us hail from Belgaum and we are from the Rai family. Now we are in the same profession. Apart from this, there is no other connection. What is your bedroom line? “Kid asleep. Do not disturb!” This is one of the first Lakshmi Rai's interview from cinesouth. Simple, humble and mature
Lakshimi Rai, looks like the shape of the number One, and looks as lean, and at the same time attractive. She had entered the Kodambakkm arena through the film 'Karka Kasadara'. Her height is the specialty for this angel from Belguam. Our heart became freezeed when we hear her talking like a cool, chilling breeze of Ooty. We wanted to know about the next step of this beautiful peacock. So we met her, at the hotel Vijay Park. She talked to us along with her sister, which happens to be an added bonus for us. Even before we started asking her anything, she asked, 'Have you seen 'Karka Kasadara', how was the film?' We just nodded our head and started asking her questions! Were you mad about Cinema, even in your younger days? Nothing like that, I started showing my head in ad films when I was studying in 8th standard. I have quenched my artistic thirst, by participating in dance classes, stage programs on daily basis. Then in the years, 2003 and 2004, I was selected as Miss Belguam. Then came the chance to act in films. Now I am giving you interview as an actress. Did you have camera fear while acting in the film 'Karka Kasadara'? Definitely not, because, I have already acted in a Kannada film before, so I had acted in the film 'Karka Kasadara' without any fear whatsoever. How did you get the chance to act in films? I used to take photos of myself often because I was doing modeling. My photo album had come a round in Kodambakkam. Udhayakumar sir happened to see it, in the next minute; I was signed as the heroine in his film. Now I am acting as the heroine in a Telugu film with Srikanth. Even then, I do have an eye on Tamil film field. You were acting in the film 'Kurukkezhuthu', what happened to that film? The director of that film told me a story before I started to act in that film. But, when the shooting started, the story was entirely different. So I had refused to act in that film. What about this 'angel's family? Ayyo, sir, don't praise me too much. Her face had turned into blossoming flower in shyness. My family is a Rai family. Rai, means Aishwara Rai? Hello sir, just hear me out without teasing me. There is no connection between that Rai and us. My father is a businessman, mother is a housewife, two elder sisters Reshma and Ashwini. I am the last one. We used to fight with each other often, but we would turn into peace loving doves in the next moment. I was born in Bangalore, and grown up in Belgaum. But I started to love Chennai now. I even started to learn Tamil a little (The way she said this is 'Tamiinglish' was just beautiful). Oh, I have forgotten to tell you one more thing. I have completed a six-month course in acting in Mumbai, those experiences is helping now. Are you not acting very glamourously? Is it so? But I don't think so; I think I had acted in a manner that was necessary for the scene. I am going to say the same thing, like all other actresses say. "I may act glamorously but not in a obscene way" I do want to search for good character and act in them. What is the secret of your beauty? My Laughter. Does your household members support you to be an actress? My parents are afraid because of the love they have for me, when I have to go to outdoor shooting, leaving them here. However, they never tried to stop me from doing things I wanted to do. Do you think it is advisable for women to come into the cine field to act in films in the prevailing situation of the film field? Why not? But there are many reasons for this fear among women, to start with, their parental permission. Even if they allow them in the beginning, they may fear, if that support would continue till the end. But if you can team with the good people in Cinema, there is no other filed that is better than Cine field. What is your next plan of action? Only now my film is released. Here after I would carefully select my film based on good story, director and good banner. Her words revealed the level of her maturity. |
